about

gorgeous creature is a project that explores love, self-love and empowerment through the senses—transforming the everyday into something sacred through glass, scent, light and wearable forms. it is a punk endeavor created by [me] paige mazurek, an artist based in brooklyn, NY, operating between luxury and guerrilla. i consider beauty both a force and a form of protection.

the work i make is an act of love. it is a form of play and sensemaking—each piece, a tool for connection: with self, with others, with the natural world. it is about bringing light into this lifetime in the ways that i know how to. care, ritual and connection are at the heart.

an aspect of this work is disrupting and reshaping how we create and hold space in our homes, rituals and routines. i believe so strongly that when we slow down and activate our senses, we are able to greet the world from a place of curiosity and love. we become more open to all the possibilities for living more fully, more deeply, more connected.

a huge part of this project is also about subverting norms and expectations—gendered, cultural, functional, material, otherwise. in both creation and experience, the work is a form of cultural resistance: slow in an era of speed and disembodiment.

gorgeous creature is built through direct authorship across every layer of the work—from glass and scent construction to photography, design, packaging and digital environments. i am self-taught, working across mediums that are typically divided between fabricators, manufacturers, designers and creative teams, instead holding the work within a singular material and visual language shaped through my own hands and devotion. this closeness to process is deeply intentional: a way of channeling memory, emotion, instinct and collective experience into form.

i believe that art, pleasure and beauty are for everyone. a core mission of my work is expanding how these things can be accessed, experienced and shared through tiered offerings, sliding scale and pay-what-you-can models, alternative forms of distribution and the creation of open-source resources for others to use. my work moves across settings—from subway platforms to community-based spaces—intentionally shifting how objects are encountered, experienced, activated and lived with beyond expected retail or exhibition contexts.
